Levothyroxine is a medication used to treat an underactive thyroid, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough of the hormone thyroxine.

The most common side effects of taking levothyroxine are nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, headache, and tremor.

There are a variety of drugs that can interfere with levothyroxine, including antacids, iron supplements, and calcium supplements. Antacids can reduce the absorption of levothyroxine by the body, while iron and calcium supplements can bind to levothyroxine and prevent it from being properly absorbed. In addition, certain drugs such as proton pump inhibitors and omeprazole can also decrease the absorption of levothyroxine. As a result, it is important to speak with a doctor or pharmacist before taking any new medications, especially if they are known to interact with levothyroxine.

You should take levothyroxine on an empty stomach, 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast. Be sure to take levothyroxine at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of the medication in your blood. By following these simple guidelines, you can ensure that you're getting the most out of your levothyroxine treatment.
