Lisinopril is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called ACE inhibitors. It is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Lisinopril works by relaxing the blood vessels and decreasing the heart rate. This makes it easier for the heart to pump blood and decreases the workload on the heart. Lisinopril may also be used to prevent kidney problems in people with diabetes. It is important to take lisinopril exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Liver damage can be reversed if caught early, but it can lead to death if left untreated. If you have liver disease or drink alcohol regularly, be sure to let your doctor know before starting lisinopril.

Lisinopril can be taken in the morning or evening. It is usually taken once or twice a day with or without food.

While lisinopril is generally well-tolerated, it can cause some side effects, including constipation. In most cases, constipation caused by lisinopril is mild and can be relieved by making simple lifestyle changes, such as drinking more fluids and eating more fiber-rich foods.
