Meloxicam is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to relieve pain, swelling, and inflammation. It is available in both oral and injectable forms. The oral form is typically taken once daily with food as needed for pain.

Common side effects include stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, headaches, and dizziness. Other side effects may include skin rash, itching, and fluid retention. 

Meloxicam and ibuprofen are both non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). They are similar in that they both work by reducing inflammation and pain. Meloxicam is a longer-acting drug and can provide relief for up to 24 hours. Ibuprofen typically only provides relief for 4-6 hours. Meloxicam is also less likely to cause gastrointestinal side effects such as upset stomach and diarrhea.

Alcohol should be avoided when taking meloxicam as it may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. If you have any questions about drinking alcohol while taking meloxicam, please consult your healthcare provider.
